Check out this cowl I made, I am super happy with how it turned out. Yeah, it’s still a little too warm to really be wearing it but I am just proud of myself that I actually finished it since I’ve only knitted twice before and that was about five years ago! This was my first time using circular needles, too! Those things are pretty neato. I wound two pieces of yarn together as I knitted since the dark blue one with the little sequins was pretty thin and I didn’t want to spend a thousand years making this here thinger.

So school is back on and it’s GREAT! Already lots of homework and I am loving it all. Good to be back, learning about animation!

Here’s the finished doll and background! Im pretty happy with how the whole thing turned out but I definitely won’t be working this small next time I try something along these lines.

Materials used: For the doll the face and hands are painted sculpey on a body made of wire and tin foil, the clothing is felt, linen, silk, wool, and thread and the book was made out of paper sewn and glued together. The background images were made from painted watercolour paper cut and glued together on cardboard to give it dimension. Then more cardboard was layered to make it pop off the blue painted backdrop. Then I photographed it outside in natural light and cleaned up the picture in photoshop and added some softening to the edges with the dodge tool to give it more of a dreamy quality to it.

Here’s one of the things that I’ve been working on lately. This poseable pirate girl doll is 5 1/2 inches tall. I wish I made it bigger because it was really annoying to make such tiny clothing! I’ve used sculpey for the hands and face which are painted with acryla gouache. The body is made of tin foil and wire and the clothing various fabrics such as linen, silk, felt, wool, and leather. I’m working on an environment to put her in

Here’s an earlier full body shot without the book and before I finished the hands.

I’m not finishing her boots since they were giving me trouble and I’m not intending for her feet to be seen in the final photos anyway. Plus it’s way easier to stand her up when I can pin her to the wood like that!

Spoonflower recently did a free swatch day where you could order two swatches of any weight fabric at no cost! A swatch works out to be 8 x 8 inches, not very big but there’s still a lot you can do with a piece of fabric that size! I got a swatch of the upholstery weight fabric to test how it would hold up as a book cover. So here are the two tiny books I made for jotting down notes. They are just over 3 x 2.75 inches big, and they have 40 pages of mixed papers in them. I always like to have some kind of book in my bag to jot down little notes and stuff on and that is exactly what I plan to use these things for!

It’s been a while now since I’ve done any video game related crafting, so I thought I should change that! Next week Scribblenauts comes out for the Nintendo DS and it looks AMAZING! You write pretty much anything and it appears in the game! Then you use those things that appear to help the main character Maxwell solve puzzles and stuff. It looks so much fun! I’ve been following news on this game for a while. When I saw that Super Punch was having a little Scribblenauts themed contest, it gave me the idea to try to make a plush Maxwell along the lines of the Coraline doll I made with my pal Mike last March. So here it is!

He stands at 14 inches tall from soles of his sculpey shoes to the tip of his red rooster hat.

I also made a tiny spiral bound notebook and pencil for him to carry around!

His gloves are made of plastic vinyl, his clothes cotton, his body is canvas and linen, his rooster hat is fleece and the star is foam.

I was really happy with how his headphones turned out. I made them with the bottoms of 25 cent machine capsules!
