Now that tcaf is done and summer break is officially here I’ve had time to finish this collaboration I’ve been working on with my pal m.harris! She designed this plague doctor and sent me the model sheets (which you can see on her tumblr!) and then I attempted to make it into a puppet! Overall I am super proud of the work I did on this guy. I feel like I learned a ton and am really excited to try some new things on my next one!

So I was busy having such a great time at TCAF all weekend that I pretty much took no photos! But here’s the one blurry one of me at my table that exists.

This weekend was such a blast. I met so many people I’ve known on line for ages on tumblr and back to the lj days and it was AMAZING! I bonded with some new pals over dinners filled with Ducktale universe discussions. I took part in my first panel thing drawing for a bunch of kids! Sold comics, traded comics, gave away comics, bought comics. Lived, laughed AND LOVED! Thank you so so much to everyone who came by my table to visit, you guys made my weekend amazing! I feel so pumped and recharged creatively from being surrounded by so many creative types. I can’t wait for tcaf2013!

And just as an added bonus, this playground equipment at the daycare centre at Sheridan comes equipped with a scary Hannibal Lecter face! Perfect for the kiddies.

Something that I think every Sheridan animation student looks forward to is getting their caricature drawn by Pete Emslie. Today after class he did mine! Thanks Pete!!

Now I am going to enjoy my last few days of winter break before it’s back to school on Monday!

I like doing these yearly summaries on dA. It’s neat looking back to see the progression of someone’s art!

In my summary last year I said that I wanted to work more of layouts and lighting. I think I did make some progress in that direction! I will keep at it Looking at this summary, I feel like I really hit a good stride around May and my stuff took a big leap there. It’s kinda crazy the improvement I’ve made since 2009. I am proud of myself!

If I had to pick a favourite thing that I made this year, I would probably say my Saloon painting from November. I had a lot of fun working on that one!

For the coming year I want to focus on model making and puppet fabrication. I’d love to learn about silicone casting and sculpting! When I’ve finished the plague doctor I’ve been collaborating with hospitalvespers on I am going to try to make some kind of environment. A corner of a room or something like that!

So here’s to a New Year filled with lots of hard work! I’m looking forward to it! Exclamation mark!

My big goal for 2012 is going to spend more time on my animation assignments and work harder on them. I find that class to be the most challenging for me, I don’t know why. But next year I vow to do better!
