Took a little break from some homework tonight to work on this guy for Hatch’s annual egg colouring competition. If you like this guy, it would be pretty rad if you went and voted for him!

Now back to work on that group film project!

Firstly, I would just like to say thank you so much to everyone who liked/commented/reblogged/emailed about my Little Tolkien book project! I was kind of blown away by the positive response I got from so many people. Thank you so much! I’m still working hard on the project when free time from school and portfolio work permits and I’m hoping to have some more paintings to share with you all soon!

In the meantime, here’s some other stuff I’ve been working on for school!

A Little Tolkien Book

At school we are all busy putting together our portfolios to apply for co op placements this summer and one of my teachers keeps talking about ‘making art you want to get hired to do’. Well I would love to be hired to illustrate a kids book one day and man would I ever love to work on a Tolkien adaptation!

Who knows if that will ever happen! So I decided to attempt it on my own and plan out a fake ‘golden book style’ Hobbit, inspired by the Unexpected Journey movie. These were all painted with acryla gouache on watercolour paper and the book cover was edited with some photoshop.

I have a few more illustrations for this ‘Little Tokien book’ project on the go but homework is piling up so it might be a few weeks before I can dedicate some time to get the rest done. I’m not really sure if this is anything I can use in my looming portfolio but it was so much fun to do! There is really something nice about taking a little break now and again to rejuvenate your creativity with a personal project!

Winter Break

It’s finally here! This semester has been a killer one. Haven’t even had time to update my blog very much. But I’ve handed in my final assignment for this term and here it is, along with some exercises that led up to my stop motion animation adventure!

Was off from school this week for our fall reading week but unfortunately I’ve been really sick the whole time! It’s awful timing and great timing. Hopefully I’ll be back to my normal self by Monday. I did managed to make this little diorama for fun over the past few days though! I love Halloween so much, it’s my favourite!

Had a pretty fun assignment for my lifedrawing class due this week, where we had to take some drawings from class and use them to inspire some ‘hero or villain’ type characters.

Filling up my sketchbook with our group film story concepts. It’s going to be a really fun gag filled short, I’m excited about it! But I’ve also been SUPER excited about my stop motion class! Check out these awesome cars I moved around last week.

I even built a little stage at home to do some practicing. Today I fooled around with a little wire guy I made. Can’t wait to try some more stuff out soon!
